Art Number : 39

Size: 29.7 x 42 cm (A3)

In Hinduism, Murugan is a god of war and victory, and is the son of the god Shiva and the goddess Parvati. He is often depicted in Kalamkari art as a handsome and youthful warrior, holding a spear or other weapon. Murugan is also sometimes shown with six heads, representing his role as the leader of the celestial army. In Kalamkari paintings, he may be shown seated on a throne, surrounded by his divine followers, or riding into battle on his mount, a peacock.
